Thank you, Dr. Purdy, for sharing your story so honestly in the CMAJ. It's not always easy to share stories like this, and perhaps more challenging to do so for your peers. However, it truly is an encouragement to the rest of us who have family members struggling with various mental illnesses, even when the stories don't end the way we hope. And thanks also for the reminder that each of us deserves to be seen as a person - like your brother. Thank you.
