The title uses a false dichotomy argument. When I gave these co-pay cards to my patients, it was not to improve choice or to institutionalize bribes. It was to allow my patients to use the original brand name products with little extra direct cost to the patient. In the ophthalmology literature there has been evidence of differences in some branded and generic products. https://www.canadianjournalofophthalmology.ca/article/S0008-4182(11)00333-4/abstract
