    RE: licorice adverse effects

    Great article on licorice tea
    In 2009 I published an Ottawa case in CJEM based on eating too many licorice cigars.

    RE: Licorice reduces testosterone

    A case has been made that low testosterone is involved in increased cardiovascular disease in older men ("Low Serum Testosterone and Mortality in Older Men," (J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2008 Jan; 93(1): 68–75). Licorice reduces testosterone which may be the basis of this report (Licorice consumption and serum testosterone in healthy man), (Exp Clin Endocrinol Diabetes. 2003 Sep;111(6):341-3).
