Beginning in January 2017, CMAJ started publishing 50 issues per year in an online format directly on cmaj.ca. In addition, a selection of articles appear in a monthly print version of CMAJ.
More details:
- CMAJ has increased the number of published online issues from 18 to 50. Every Monday, the electronic table of contents (eToC) for each issue is be emailed to all CMA members and anyone else who wishes to sign up.
- Online issues allow CMAJ to deliver more content to our members than ever before, including full-length open-access research articles and more practice-related content and commentaries.
- The print version of CMAJ is published monthly instead of 18 times per year. It includes a selection of articles previously published online and directs readers to additional valuable online content.
FAQ
- Why is CMAJ choosing to focus on online publication?
The flexibility of online channels to scale themselves toward cost-effective means of displaying more content makes online publication our preferred way to deliver valuable medical knowledge to members.
- Have you reduced the number of print issues produced in a year?
As we expand to offer 50 online issues per year, we reduced the number of print issues from 18 to 12. We know many of our members still prefer to read the articles in the print format, and we will continue to deliver it to them on a monthly basis.
- With fewer print issues, how am I getting more content than ever before?
For some time, about 40% of the content CMAJ has produced has been available only online. If you haven’t been reading content online at cmaj.ca, you’ve not been enjoying the full value of your subscription or membership benefit and been missing some valuable content. The eTOC (electronic table of contents) you will receive each week makes it easier for you to access the additional content.
- I’m not a CMA member. Can I still sign up to receive the eTOC?
Yes, you can. This is how: http://www.cmaj.ca/cgi/alerts/etoc. However, we encourage you to become a member so that you have access to all CMAJ content. To join the CMA, go to: https://www.cma.ca/En/Pages/join-the-cma.aspx
- How do I remove my name from your distribution list?
If you don’t wish to receive CMAJ eToC emails, you can unsubscribe through a link in the email we send you. If you don’t wish to receive CMAJ in print, please contact our Member Service Centre at [email protected] or call 888-855-2555 (toll-free), weekdays 8 am to 8 pm.
