In a 2016 Perspective article in the New England Journal of Medicine the author stated "The worst recent failure to use an effective vaccine, in my view, has been the lack of prophylaxis against Lyme disease" (2). He discussed the problems with acceptance of a prior vaccine and its withdrawal from the market, but expressed optimism that "the future seems reasonably bright for the development of vaccines against Lyme disease". As far as I know, in 2020 we do not yet have this vaccine.
