D'Amours, Jean-Claude, Lévis, Que.; Université Laval, 1952, anatomical pathology. Died Apr. 19, 2005, aged 79.
Dixon, John Howard, Calgary; McGill University, 1944, general surgery. Died May 12, 2006, aged 86. “He served as a Surgeon Lieutenant Commander on the HMCS Magnificent aircraft carrier during World War II. One of John's greatest pleasures was organizing the annual ‚River rats' boating excursions on Alberta and Saskatchewan waterways. Some 90 men joined him on these spring river adventures over a span of 25 years. John's memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Isabell, his children, Ann (Don) Jenkins, Bob (Rose) Dixon and Louise (John) Harder, and his grandchildren Megs, John (Jen), Laura, Kristian, Karin, David, Dayna and Jordan. He will also be remembered by his siblings and their families, brother Russ (Sheila) and sister Peggy MacGougan, as well as many friends and professional associates.”

England, Nelles John, London, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1939, internal medicine. Died May 10, 2006, aged 89. “Loving husband of Ella (Ballantyne) England for 65 years. Dear son of the late Gordon and Irene (Plewes) England. Dear father of Sandra and her husband Rick Aldington of London, Graham and his wife Linda of Huntsville, Jennifer and her husband Robert Brown of Milton, Ont. He served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, World War II, 1940 to 1945 in Canada, the UK and the European theatre. Nelles was Past President of the Harvey Club of London, 1959, and the London Academy of Medicine, 1962. He was a member of the London Hunt and Country Club and the Vimy Branch No. 145 of the Royal Canadian Legion.”
Govan, William Reginald, Kelowna, BC; University of Manitoba, 1943, general surgery. Died May 24, 2006, aged 88.
Hellmuth, Fritz-Heinz Karl W., Winnipeg; Medizinische Fakultaet der Christian Albrechts Universität, Kiel, Germany, 1953, radiation oncology. Died May 8, 2006, aged 81. “He will be forever remembered by his wife of 51 years, Elisabeth, children, Dr. Frieder Hellmuth Timpe (Dr. Eva Dankoweit) in Germany, Ulrike Hellmuth-Chris (Frank Curtis) and Tina Hellmuth (Dave Najduch) of Winnipeg, and Katherine Hellmuth (Mario Mantaci) in Italy, grandchildren, Robert and Anna Timpe in Germany, Michele and James Najduch of Winnipeg, and Elisabeth Mantaci in Italy. He provided his family with guidance, a good work ethic and a lifelong appreciation of learning.”
Hunt, Douglas Earl, St. Catharines, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1946, family medicine. Died May 8, 2006, aged 91. “Dr. Hunt is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dr. Jean M. Hunt. He was the dearly loved and respected father of Margaret Pulford (Ross), Dr. Elizabeth Hunt (Dr. Clyde Hillier) of London, Ont., Dr. John Hunt (Sandra DesChamp) of Ethel, Ont. and Douglas E. Hunt Jr. (Susan). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Christopher Pulford, Anne Pulford Fedj (Damian), Morgan Hillier, Leah Hillier, Carla Hunt, Bryce Hunt, Brett Hunt, Cayli Hunt, Douglas E. Hunt III and Rebecca Hunt. He was a special great-grandfather to Victor Fedj. He is also survived by his sister Audrey Hare and nephew Donald Hare (Karen). He was predeceased by his brother William Hunt. Dr. Hunt was the recipient of many awards including the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award (2003). He was active in many associations and was Past President of the Canadian College of Family Physicians.”
Johnson, Aubrey Edmund, Great Village, NS; Dalhousie University, 1950. Died May 10, 2006, aged 80. “He was the son of the late Dr. Thomas Ross Johnson and Janet Roach (Drysdale) Johnson. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Linkletter, Sackville, NB, his former wife, Barbara (Blaikie) (Robertson), Ont., and his nieces and nephews, Joan, Jean, Pam, Kathy, Donald, Janet, David, Susan and Judy. He was predeceased by his great-nephew, Bobbie Annand Fogarty, brothers, Arthur and Thomas, and sister, Elizabeth Annand.”
Lone, Frank John, Winnipeg; University of Manitoba, 1945, general pathology. Died May 10, 2006, aged 84. “His involvement and contributions to the medical community were many. He was a member of the Ontario Association of Pathologists serving as a board member, secretary and, finally, president of the association. One of the accomplishments of which he was most proud was the review of the laboratory services in the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan; he made recommendations that underlie many of the current practices. What he held most dear was his family: his wife of 59 years, Isobell (Betts), his 3 daughters, Barbara (Fergus Penner), Monica and Cynthia (Brant Long), his 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Hilary, Julian and Virginia, his 5 great-grandchildren, Kiefer, Amaia, Jackson, Wesley and Tessa.”
