This is a good idea. It must have the mandate for the whole of the country so that uniform directives can be made. Their recommendations should over ride ALL the Provincial Health Agencies although Health is under the Provinces. This will prevent the confusion being seen with Covid -19 recommendations from the Provinces.

There is much to be said for a coordinated response to immunization across Canada, but the challenge with creating one Canadian Immunization Services is that, although those who did poorly would improve, the Provinces who made a good job of it would likely do less well. I would rather see a Federal generic medication manufacturing service which included vaccines and ensured that Provinces were well supplied with basics. Cultural and geographical differences make a ubiquitous distribution system unlikely to work well and competition does lead to quality improvement IF appropriate metrics are measured and published, so each element can learn from the others.
