In France, the cocaine content described by Dujourdy and Besacier ranged from 20–30% [49] and Evrard et al., two years later, found a mean cocaine content of 27%, (median 22%) [48]. Other European countries like Italy and Belgium presented cocaine content ranged from 80–90% [50] and 0.2–99%, (mean 50.6%) [5], respectively. In Brazil, cocaine content assessed in various studies varied from 66–88% [6], 6.4–97.8% [17], 32–85.5% [51], 16.5–91.4% [9], 60–90% [16] and 45% [10].

  • The cutting of cocaine and heroin: A critical review

    2016, Forensic Science International
    Citation Excerpt :

In United States, theophylline was detected in heroin specimens coming from South America and diphenhydramine in the ones from South West Asia [12]. More recently, it was hypothesised that levamisole was used as a chemical marker to track distribution of the illicit drug [23]. Lastly, phenacetin is commonly found in Brazilian seizures confiscated close to borders with Peru and Bolivia, while levamisole is frequently detected in seizures close to the Colombian border [36].

  • Evaluation of the composition of street cocaine seized in two regions of Brazil

    2013, Science and Justice
    Citation Excerpt :

Fe, Mn and Na can be found in talcum powder as contaminants. The presence of manganese may be related to the use of potassium permanganate during the illicit production of freebase from coca paste [18]. High concentrations of sodium (> 5 mg g− 1) were obtained for 6 MG samples, most notably the 6-MG sample (38.4 mg g− 1).
