TY - JOUR T1 - Manitoba municipalities want foreign-trained physicians to fill medical-care gap JF - Canadian Medical Association Journal JO - CMAJ SP - 1038 LP - 1039 VL - 156 IS - 7 AU - D. Square Y1 - 1997/04/01 UR - http://www.cmaj.ca/content/156/7/1038.abstract N2 - For the third year in a row, Manitoba municipalities have passed a resolution asking that physicians trained outside the Commonwealth be permitted to work as medical residents in rural communities. The resolution noted that most graduates of the University of Manitoba's Class of '96 had already accepted positions outside the province. Although the provincial government has sweetened the pot for Canadian-trained physicians, a long-term solution to Manitoba's critical shortage of rural physicians seems elusive. ER -
