Brown, Berkeley Cline, Victoria, BC; University of Western Ontario, 1940, internal medicine. Died July 12, 2007, aged 92.
Burrows, Derek Cecil Raymond. Died Aug. 31, 2007, aged 85. “Dr. Burrows was a radiologist, and was the first chief of radiology at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ont. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Adam) and grandchildren, Lois and Steven Bathgate, all in the UK, and by his partner, Carol Thomas.”
Cassidy, Patrick Nial, Belleville, Ont.; National University of Ireland, 1956, general pathology. Died June 29, 2007, aged 75.
Dobie, Frederick (Ted) Clarence, Regina; Queen's University, 1940, general surgery. Died Aug. 6, 2007, aged 91. “Dr. Dobie is survived by his children; Diane (Douglas) Smith, Daphne (Philip) Walsh, Barbara Dobie (Bill Holbrow) and Ted Dobie (Susan); his brother, George (Helen); and his sister-in-law, Daphne Lord. Ted was born in Port Arthur, Ont. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1941–1945. He then moved to Regina and became a general practitioner. Following a year of surgical residency at Kingston General Hospital in 1952, he returned to Regina and continued to practise family medicine before specializing in general surgery. Until his retirement in 1983, Ted was an active outdoorsman, golfer, hunter and curler. He served as the chief of surgery and was on the board of governors at the Regina General Hospital. He also served on the board of directors of Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. Ted was a charter member of Lakeview United Church and served as an elder and pastoral care visitor. Dr. Dobie was an honorary CMA member.”
Jackson, Peter John, Binbrook, Ont.; University of London, 1964. Died July 30, 2007, aged 77. “Dr. Jackson was the loving husband of Josephine for 52 years, and the dear father of 2 sons, Nicholas (Mary Ann) and Christopher (Jennifer). He is survived by his sister, Jane Lowe; brothers, Ken (Barbara) and Paul (Connie). ‚Dr. J' retired from family practice in Binbrook in 1995, after serving the community for over 26 years.”

Rogers, Francis (Buck) J., St. Catharines, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1948, dermatology. Died Aug. 6, 2007, aged 81. “Dr. Rogers leaves behind his wife, Olga.”
Sarabia, Luis Gutierrez, Etobicoke, Ont.; University of Valladolid, Spain, 1955. Died Aug.1, 2007, aged 75.
Scharf, Robert F., Bridgewater, NS; McGill University, 1948, orthopedic surgery. Died July 13, 2007, aged 83. “Dr. Scharf was a fellow of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in general surgery and held a certificate in orthopedic surgery. He spent 10 years as a lieutenant colonel in the Canadian army. He spent part of his career as a university emergency department director in Halifax and as chairman of the Nova Scotia Trauma Committee of the American College of Surgeons in Saint John, NB. Dr. Scharf organized the first clinical courses for ambulance attendants in Nova Scotia. He attended 4 Canada Games and was medical chairman for the 1985 Summer Games in Saint John, NB. He had several university appointments, including one to the University of Southern California and another to Dalhousie University. He received the Award of Merit of the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians. He was a serving brother of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. Dr. Scharf was chairman of the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation's Emergency Cardiac Care Committee, and was responsible for putting defibrillators in ambulances in several New Brunswick locations and for widespread instruction in advanced cardiac life support. Upon his retirement, he was presented with a certificate of honour by the City of Saint John, for services rendered. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Black); children, Michelle (Dennis) Kolba, Daniel Michael (Brenda) Scharf, Laurel (Francis) Joudrey and Patricia (Gary) Stone.
Schachter, Ricky Kanee, Toronto; University of Toronto, 1943, dermatology. Died July 1, 2007, aged 88. “Dr. Schachter was an honorary CMA member.”

Stratford, Joseph Graham, Westmount, Que.; McGill University, 1947, neurosurgery. Died July 22, 2007, aged 83. “Dr. Stratford was a CMA Honorary Member.”
Thorner, Donald Romaine, Chattanooga, Tenn.; University of Western Ontario, 1952. Died July 18, 2007, aged 78. “Dr. Thorner leaves behind his wife, Janet Thorner.”
