We totally agree with this editorial. Personalized medicine should emphasize the customization of healthcare, with all decisions and practices being tailored to individual patients in whatever ways possible. Recently, this has mainly involved the use of genetic information about an individual patient to optimize that patient's therapy. Most successful applications of genomic technology have been in the treatment of human cancer. Personalized medicine should not be limited to this focus. If we plan to deliver personalized medicine to the public, many critical infrastructures are necessary. Personal health record is one of the vital keys to success.
