Auger, Claude, Orléans, Ontario; Université Laval, Sainte-Foy, Quebec, 1973, general surgery. Died Dec. 16, 2007, aged 56. Brigadier-General Auger (retired) is survived by his wife, Lise, children, Danny and Nathalie, and 3 grandchildren.

Brewster, John Maitland, Owen Sound, Ontario; Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, 1941, general surgery. Died Dec. 15, 2007, aged 93. Predeceased by his wife, Hazel, survived by his son, Skip, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
Bruyère, J.E.G. Jean-Charles, Ottawa, Ontario; University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, 1961, internal medicine. Died Dec. 25, 2007, aged 72.
Cape, Ronald Duncan, Melbourne Australia; Edinburgh University 1944, geriatric medicine. Died Nov. 9, 2007, aged 86. Dr. Cape pioneered geriatric medicine in North America. In 1975, he became a professor and chief of geriatric medicine at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, where he established clinical services that provided educational opportunities for health care professionals and a clinical research base. In 1981, he chaired the founding committee for the Canadian Society of Geriatric Medicine and later, The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada's committee to establish a Certificate of Special Competence in Geriatric Medicine. He is the author of Aging: Its Complex Management and was presented with the British Geriatric Society 50th anniversary medal for outstanding service to geriatric medicine. He is survived by his wife, Pat, sons, Randall and Jeremy, and 6 grandchildren.

MacPhail, Hugh Rose, Calgary, Alberta; University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba, 1948, anesthesiology. Died Dec. 20, 2007, aged 90.
McFarlane, Clara Jean, Winnipeg, Manitoba; University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba, 1951, obstetrics and gynecology. Died Dec. 16, 2007, aged 80. Dr. McFarlane was a long-time professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba, where a colleague remembered her as “an outstanding teacher and a superb role model for the many medical students, interns and residents she trained.”
Panton, William Douglas, New Westminster, British Columbia; McGill University, Montréal, Quebec, 1947. Died Dec. 20, 2007, aged 84. A family practitioner in Vancouver for 39 years, Dr. Panton, like his father before him, was the attending physician for the Vancouver Police Department. He was very involved with the Health Action Network Society and with orthomolecular and nutritional medicine. In 1991, he was honoured as the Orthomolecular Physician of the Year by the Canadian Schizophrenia Foundation. Dr. Panton is survived by his wife, Mabel, children Doug, Diana, Kathy, Margaret, Ken, David and Donald, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Trudeau, Léon, Morin-Heights, Quebec; Université de Montréal, Montréal, Quebec, 1954, obstetrics and gynecology. Died Dec. 25, 2007, aged 80. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Denise St-Germain, ses enfants Sylvie, Maryse, Élisabeth, Anik et Martin, et 6 petits-enfants.
