Archer, James Charles, Surrey, BC; Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland, 1965, internal medicine. Died Mar. 22, 2007, aged 70.

Bean, John Louis McDougall, Toronto; University of Toronto, 1945, obstetrics and gynecology. Died Apr. 12, 2007, aged 84.

Blair, Edward James, St. Catharines, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1954, orthopedic surgery. Died Apr. 17, 2007, aged 79.

Callbeck, Gordon Robert McLean, Duncan, BC; University of Alberta, 1944. Died June 6, 2007, aged 88.

Catton, Gordon Edgar, Ottawa; University of London, England, 1944, radiation oncology. Died Apr. 30, 2007, aged 85.

Cherry, Richard Roch, Edmonton; McGill University, 1950, family medicine. Died June 5, 2007, aged 87.

Desjardins, Joseph Rene Denis, Ottawa; University of Ottawa, 1955, orthopedic surgery. Died Jan. 21, 2007, aged 76.

Fam, Adel Gohar, North York, Ont.; Cairo University, Egypt, 1959, rheumatology. Died Apr. 16, 2007, aged 70. “Dr. Fam was well-respected in the world's family of medicine. His world-class research produced a number of novel observations. As an expert in the fields of internal medicine and rheumatology and as a world authority on gout, he was the recipient of numerous prestigous awards. In his professional life, Adel was wholly dedicated to research, teaching, his students and patient care. He served on many national and international committees and on a number of editorial boards for peer-reviewed journals. He coauthored a best-selling book on musculoskeletal examination and joint injection techniques. He leaves behind his loving wife, Denise, and sons, Neil (Hanna), Paul and Mark (Rose).”

Howell, Denis Roderick S., Halifax; registrable qualification granted by the English Conjoint Board, 1939, dermatology. Died Apr. 15, 2007, aged 95.

Kahn, David Sylvan, Oakville, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1942, anatomical pathology. Died Feb. 12, 2007, aged 89.

McSweeney, Edouard Douglas Jr., Burlington, Vt.; University of Ottawa, 1958. Died Feb. 24, 2002, aged 73.

Newbigin, Brian, Mississauga, Ont.; University of Cambridge, England; 1958, ophthalmology. Died Dec. 8, 2006, aged 71.

Nita, Alexandru, 150 Mile House, BC; Institutul de Medicina si Farmacie, Romania, 1984. Died Mar. 6, 2007, aged 48.

Peacocke, Thomas Alexander, Ottawa; Dalhousie University, 1975, ophthalmology. Died Dec. 25, 2006, aged 54.

Rabatich, Stephen, Plaster Rock, NB; McGill University, 1945. Died June 1, 2007, aged 86. “Dr. Rabatich volunteered for military service in 1942 before obtaining his MDCM and studying anesthesia. He served as physician, surgeon and coroner in Plaster Rock, NB, for almost 50 years and was often on call 24 hours a day. He was awarded the Dr. Garfield Moffatt Medal in 1986 by the New Brunswick Medical Society for outstanding professionalism. Dr. Rabatich is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Laverne, 2 daughters, Diane and Daphne (John), and 2 sons, Ulrich and Dr. Dusty (Helen) Rabatich.”

Yaholnitsky, Richard, Yorkton, Sask.; University of Alberta, 1943. Died Apr. 3, 2007, aged 88.

Zimmerman, Barry, Toronto; University of Toronto, 1965, pediatrics. Died May 27, 2007, aged 65. “Beloved husband of Sharon and loving father of Steven and Rena.”
