Babu, Tumkur Gangappa Lokesh, Edmonton; educated in India, 1989. Died Feb. 24, 2006, aged 40.

Callaghan, John Henry, Charlottetown; Dalhousie University, 1968. Died Mar. 11, 2006, aged 64. “Over his 37-year medical career, he built one of Canada's largest family practices with up to about 6000 patients. In 2005, 2 former UPEI Panthers hockey coaches paid tribute to him for the almost 30 years he spent as team doctor. He left behind his loving wife, Cheryl, and 3 daughters.”

MacFarlane, James Wallace, Burlington, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1943. Died Mar. 8, 2006, aged 89. “Beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Tebby) MacFarlane (nee Lepard). Loving father of John MacFarlane and his wife Patricia of Waterdown, Annabelle Cooper and her husband, Nicky of Toronto, Kathryn MacFarlane of Brantford and Bill MacFarlane of Burlington. Loved grandfather (Taunya, Jason, Jessie, Maegan, Sarah, Jennifer, Dylan and Spencer) and greatgrandfather (Jaden, Spencer, Chad and Chantelle). Dear brother of Grace Swan (Andy), Andrina Carlton and Blakely MacFarlane (Betty). He served overseas as Captain with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps from 1942–1946. He enjoyed practising family medicine from his home on Locust Street in Burlington, Ont., from 1947–1995.”

Miller, Marvin Earl, Toronto; University of Toronto, 1955, psychiatry. Died Mar. 5, 2006, aged 75; survived by his wife, Kaylee. Beloved father and father-in-law of Barbara and Alvin, Jaynie and Trevor, Carolyn and Stuart; beloved grandfather of Max, Sarah, Sam, Emma and Zarah, brother of Dr. Abraham Miller and the late Ann Kirsh. “A respected psychiatrist and psychoanalyst for 45 years; he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.”

Musleh, Fuad George Mitri, Regina, Sask.; University of London, England, 1960. Died Feb. 26, 2006, aged 74. “He was predeceased by his wife, Fredda, and granddaughter Jocelyn. He is survived by his sons Rick and Tony, daughter-in-law Judy, granddaughters Brittney and Selina, brother Shawki, sister-in-law Samira, as well as many family and friends residing in Canada and overseas.”

Nathan, Max Taylor, Hamilton, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1955, pediatrics. Died Mar. 2, 2006, aged 75; survived by his wife, Jeanette Nathan (Minden), and his loving children, Sandra Levy (Martin Levy), Karen Diamond (Stephen Diamond), Richard Nathan (Sherrie Fine) and his 9 grandchildren, Michael, Robbie, Jason, Madison, Lauren, James, Ty, Zak and Luke. “Dr. Max was a renowned physician in the city of Hamilton for over 40 years.”

Nicolae, Dumitru V., Ottawa; Institutul de Medicina si Farmacie, Romania, 1953. Died Feb. 25, 2006, aged 90. “Beloved best friend and husband of Elisabeta. Cherished father of Alex (Sheilagh Marie Keelan). Loving brother of Elena, Constantin and Tudor. Predeceased by siblings Ionica, Lonel, Dobre and Aurel of Romania. At the age of 50, he led his family to a new life in Canada, where he learned English and re-certified as a family physician. After a short retirement at the age of 75, he was drawn back to work part-time, ultimately practising out of the Meadowlands Family Health Centre until age 88.”

Porter, John McGee, Collingwood, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1944. Died Feb. 22, 2006, aged 86; survived by his mother, Marion, his loving wife, Phyllis, and his three children, Michael, John and Anne and their families: Debbie, Austin and Blaire; Jeff, Hanna and Axel; Diane and Lisa; Michelle, William and James; Kevin Buck, Courtney and David.

Walters, Henry Jack, Oakville, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1951, obstetrics and gynecology. Died Feb. 26, 2006, aged 80. “Former Chairman, Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Ont.; Medical College of Ohio; University of Ottawa; and King Fahad Hospital, Riyadh, Saudia Arabia. Former President, Ontario Medical Association and Chairman, Canadian Medical Association. Father of Joan Walters, Oakville, Ont. Predeceased by his wife, Mary Clegg Walters, daughter Janet Walters MacPherson and son John Frank Walters.”

Wollner, George Peter, Kelowna, BC; University of Manitoba, 1975. Died Mar. 2, 2006, aged 57. “He will be sadly missed by his wife, Margaret, mother-in-law Patricia Harvey, and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Rae (Ed) Patts. Predeceased by his mother and father, Arpad and Hedwig Wollner, whom he missed dearly, and his father-in-law George W. Harvey. He was respected and well liked by all his patients for the care he gave them and the special interest he took in them both professionally and personally. After his retirement in 2005, many of his patients continued to keep in contact with him through cards, letters, phone calls and emails.”
