Baxter, Stephen D., North Bay, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1982; psychiatry; staff, North Bay Psychiatric Hospital. Died Dec. 30, 2004, aged 46.

Beer, John K., Charlottetown; Dalhousie University, 1941; general surgery; FRCSC. Died Jan. 3, 2005, aged 91; survived by his wife, Gladys, his children, John, Dr. Greg, and Philip, 6 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Denhez, Louise, Pointe-Claire, Que.; Université de Sherbrooke, 1978; médico-social; membre de personnelle de Université de Montréal. Décédé le 5 décembre 2004, à l'âge de 49; elle laisse dans le deuil son époux, Frank, et ses enfants, François-Luc, Mélissa et Félix. «Louise partageait sa joie de vivre dans sa communauté par son engagements auprès des Guides et de l'équipe des bateaux Dragon du Club de canoë de Pointe-Claire».

Hinke, Joseph A., Comox, BC; University of British Columbia, 1957; former professor of anatomy, University of British Columbia, chair of anatomy, University of Ottawa and entrepreneur and inventor of an air pollution controller. Died of cancer Dec. 31, 2004, aged 73; survived by his wife, Liz, 3 sons and 7 grandchildren. “A lover of science and the sea, he was delighted to have the good luck to be paid to do the science he loved.”

Hogg, Robert J., Surrey, BC; University of Western Ontario, 1942. Died Jan. 13, 2005, aged 90.

Horton, Thomas B., Comox, BC; University of British Columbia, 1963. Died Jan. 8, 2005, aged 69.

Inglis, Alan M., Hornby Island, BC; University of Manitoba, 1944; orthopedic surgery; DAOA, FRCSC; former clinical assistant professor, University of British Columbia; honorary staff, Vancouver General Hospital. Died Jan. 12, 2005, aged 87.

Johnson, Ernest A., Calgary; Queen's University, 1938; ophthalmology; FACS, FICS, FAAOO, FRCSC; former staff, department of surgery, Calgary General Hospital; consulting staff, Department of Surgery, Alberta Children's & Holy Cross hospitals; clinical assistant professor, department of surgery, University of Calgary; and member, Canadian Society of Oculoplastic Surgery. Died Jan. 12, 2005, aged 89.

Lemire, Gaetan, Repentigny, Que.; Université de Montréal, 1949; chirurgie générale; FRCSC; ancien membre du personnel du Centre Hospitalier Régional de Lanaudiere. Décédé le 5 janvier 2005, à l'âge de 81; il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Marie-Reine.

Mirhady, Fereidoun, Vancouver; Universitaet Wien (Austria), 1945; pediatrics; Emeritus clinical professor of pediatrics, University of British Columbia, former staff, British Columbia's Children's and Grace hospitals and associate staff, Richmond General Hospital. Died Jan. 5, 2005, aged 83; survived by his wife, Dr. Katharine, his children, Nader, Tom, Susan, Alex and David, and 12 grandchildren. “He died as he lived, with all his family close and him choosing his time.”

Pond, John C., Rothesay, NB; University of London (UK), 1951; general pathology; MB BS, MRCP(Lond.), FRCPath(Lond.), FRCP(Ed.), FRCPC, LMCC, CRCP; former clinical and laboratory haematologist, Saint John Regional Hospital; associate professor in pathology and lecturer in medicine, Dalhousie University; and New Brunswick President of the Canadian Red Cross Society. Died Dec. 27, 2004, aged 76; survived by his wife, Ilse (Holler), his children Sheila, Ruth, David, James and 7 grandchildren. Dr. Pond received a fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (1972), the 50th Anniversary Medal – Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists (1987), and the Order of the Red Cross, Officer Level (1992).

Tétreault, Léon, Montréal; Université de Montréal, 1958; ancien directeur du service de recherche Georges- Villeneuve de l'hôpital Louis–H.–Lafontaine et professeur titulaire de médecine, directeur de programmes des sciences cliniques de l'Université de Sherbrooke. Décédé le 6 décembre 2004, à l'âge de 72; il laisse dans le deuil ses fils, Sylvain et François, et leur mère Gisèle Dubuc. Dr Tétreault a reçu de nombreux prix dont celui de Membre émérite de l'Association médicale canadienne (2002).

Tremblay, François, Taillon, Que.; Université Laval, 1962; psychiatrie; FRCPC; psychiatre à l'Institut Roland-Saucier de Chicoutimi. Décédé le 13 décembre 2004, à l'âge de 67.

Walsh, Sharon M.N., Ottawa; University of Ottawa, 1991. Died Jan. 8, 2005, aged 40.

Wilkes, Keith W., Pender Island, BC; McMaster University, 1973; family medicine; CCFP; staff, The McCausland Hospital, and coroner, Province of Ontario. Died Jan. 11, 2005, aged 56.

Wilson, George B., West Vancouver, BC; University of Manitoba, 1945; internal medicine; former consulting staff, Lions Gate Hospital. Died Jan. 13, 2005, aged 89.
