Bodnar, Stephen, Montreal; University of Debrecen (Hungary) 1951; obstetrics/gynecology; FRCSC; former staff, St. Mary's, Reddy Memorial and Queen Elizabeth hospitals; lecturer, McGill University. Died Aug. 2, 2004; survived by his wife, Medy, and 1 daughter. His daughter, Andrea, said, “He was a dedicated physician, with a passion for life, art, books, travel and nature, who filled our lives with laughter and love.”

Entin, Martin A., Hampstead, Que.; McGill University, 1945; plastic surgery; FACS, FRCSC; former associate surgical staff, Royal Victoria Hospital; chief consulting staff, plastic and hand surgery, Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children; associate professor, McGill University. Died May 14, 2004, aged 91; survived by his wife, Laura.

Gillespie, Ross J., Guelph, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1972; former staff, and medical director, continuing care unit, St. Joseph's Hospital; courtesy staff, Guelph General Hospital; medical director, St. Joseph's Home. Died May 17, 2004, aged 56; survived by his wife, Lynn, and 3 children.

Green, Leo, Halifax; Dalhousie University, 1942; internal medicine; FRCPC; Capt., RCAMC, WW II; former staff, Victoria General Hospital; courtesy staff, Izaak Walton Killam Hospital for Children and Halifax Infirmary. Died July 7, 2004, aged 86. “He had a keen interest in life-long study of medicine and history. He complimented this interest with his love for all things Jewish. On his retirement he served as a lay cantor in his synagogue.”

Hunting, Marshall C., Fort Dodge, Iowa; University of Alberta, 1970; vascular surgery; FACS, FRCSC; former staff, Grey Nuns Hospital and WCM, Health Sciences Centre; consultant, Cross Cancer Institute; clinical professor, University of Alberta. Died May 8, 2004, aged 57.

McPhail, Donald M., Winnipeg; University of Manitoba, 1945; MCFP; former assistant medical director, Workers' Compensation Board. Died May 15, 2004, aged 82.

Medine, Sidney M., Windsor, Ont.; McGill University, 1940; obstetrics/gynecology; MRCOG, FRCSC; former staff, Hotel-Dieu and Metropolitan General hospitals. Died May 18, 2004, aged 88.

Mezciems, Peter E., Fergus, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1972; family medicine; FASAM, CCFP; former senior staff physician, Homewood Alcohol and Drug Service, Homewood Health Centre; consultant, addiction medicine, Guelph General Hospital; clinical associate professor, McMaster University. Died May 16, 2004, aged 56. The Peterborough Examiner wrote: “Dr. Peter and his wife Lauri spent the last 2 years painstakingly constructing the ultralight plane that [ultimately] crashed, killing them both.”

Muller, Jan, North York, Ont.; J.E. Purkyne University (Czechoslovakia), 1938; MPH(Harvard); former chief, Environmental Health Studies Services, Ontario Ministry of Health, Occupational Health Protection Branch. Died May 26, 2004, aged 90; survived by son, Dr. Pavel.

O'Neill, James H., Westmount, Que.; McGill University, 1937; pediatrics; FAAP, FRCPC; former staff and chief of pediatrics, St. Mary's Hospital; staff, Montreal Children's Hospital. Died May 13, 2004, aged 91; survived by 4 daughters.

Sanders, C. Borden, Welland, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1944; internal medicine; FRCPC; former staff and chief of staff, Welland County General Hospital. Died May 14, 2004, aged 85; survived by his wife, Jean, and 2 children. “He was Welland's first doctor of internal medicine.”

Vann, Earl K., Winnipeg; University of Manitoba, 1946; urology; FRCSC; former chief, Department of Urology, Victoria Hospital; staff, Deer Lodge Hospital. Died May 12, 2004, aged 87; survived by his wife, Jocelyn, and 3 sons.
