Carson, George T., Kingston, Ont.; Queen's University, 1941; obstetrics /gynecology; FACOG, FRCOG, FRCSC; RCAF, WW II; former staff, Ottawa Civic Hospital; senior lecturer, University of Ottawa. Died Jan. 13, 2003, aged 87; survived by his wife, Pamela, and 3 children. “He played football and went to medical school at Queen's before serving in the RCAF, and retired happily to Wolfe Island, Ont.”

Murphy, Alphonse F., Saskatoon; University of Manitoba, 1952; general pathology; FRCPC; RCN, WW II; former staff, University Hospital; professor and director, Resident Training Program, University of Saskatchewan; coroner, Saskatchewan; cochair, Western Canada Summer Games, 1979. Died Nov. 23, 2002, aged 77; survived by his wife, Gladys, and 6 children. “At the outset of WW II he lied about his age and enlisted in the navy. After the war, he tried to retire twice before getting it right the third time. We hope the good Lord enjoys his company as much as we did.”
