Died July 13, 2000, aged 85; survived by his wife, Doreen, and 3 children.

Duguid, William P., Baie-d'Urfe, Que.; University of Glasgow (Scotland), 1950; pathology; FRCPath., FRCPC; former pathologist-in-chief, Montreal General Hospital; professor, McGill University. Died Apr. 5, 2000, aged 72.

Forrest, Thomas R., Brantford, Ont.; University of Leeds (England), 1959; former staff, Brantford General and St. Joseph's hospitals; medical officer, York Farms Ltd., Brantford. Died June 14, 2000, aged 65; survived by his wife, Margaret.

Died of Parkinson's disease July 24, 2000, aged 86; survived by his wife, Susan, and 2 children.

Died July 22, 2000, aged 69; survived by her husband, Albert.

Hicks, Franklyn H. (Duff), Ottawa; Dalhousie University, 1951; DPH; former director, general policy planning and evaluation, medical services, Department of National Health and Welfare; president, Rideauwood Institute. Died July 11, aged 2000, aged 76; survived by his wife, Irene, and 2 children.

Lamarre, Roger, Saint-Lambert (Qué.); Université de Montréal, 1951; ancien membre du personnel de l'Hôpital St-Félix de Longueuil. Décédé le 24 juillet 2000, à l'âge de 77 ans.

McLellan, T. Allan, Hamilton, Ont.; Queen's University, 1943; MCFP; former staff, Henderson General and St. Peter's hospitals. Died July 16, 2000, aged 81; survived by his wife, Marguerite.

Pan, Peter D., Kenora, Ont.; University of Manitoba, 1958; general pathology; DNBME, FCAP, FASCPath, FRCPC; former director of laboratories, Lake of the Woods District, Dryden District General and Sioux Lookout Zone hospitals; consultant, Sioux Lookout District Health Centre; regional pathologist, Ministry of Solicitor General, Red Lake and Kenora-Rainy River Regional Laboratory Program. Drowned while snorkelling July 19, 2000, aged 69; survived by his wife, Brenda. Randy Belair, associate executive director at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, told the Kenora Miner and News: “We've just lost a tremendous asset to this community.”

Penikett, E. John, Mill Bay, BC; University of London (England), 1953; MRCS, LRCP, MRCP(Path), MCFP; RAF, WW II; former staff, provincial laboratories of public health, Edmonton, and Department of Laboratories, Foothills Provincial General Hospital; general practitioner, Dawson City, Yukon; teacher, departments of Bacteriology and Clinical Pathology, University of Western Ontario; head, Department of Multidisciplinary Laboratories, University of Calgary; head of Alberta's Commission on Gerontology. Died of pneumonia Mar. 11, 2000, aged 80; survived by his wife, Sarah, and 4 children. His obituary in the Globe and Mail stated: “[Because of a stroke] these past few months were very hard for him and his family. All know that wonderful parts of John Penikett live on in the lives of each of his descendants and in the memories of friends.”

Prince, Mary C., North York, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1965. Died July 10, 2000, aged 60.

Rao, K. Gopinatha, Cornwall, Ont.; Madras University (India), 1953; urology; FRCS, FACS, FICS, FRCSC; former urology staff and chief of surgery, Hotel Dieu; urology staff, Cornwall General Hospital. Died July 9, 2000, aged 71; survived by his wife, and 3 children. His obituary stated: “He served as an example and sterling role model for his children and left them a lasting legacy in the manner in which he lived his life. He is missed terribly.”

Sniderman, Harold R., Toronto; University of Toronto, 1934; ophthalmology; FRCSC; former clinical attending ophthalmologist, Toronto Western Hospital; senior attending ophthalmologist, Mount Sinai Hospital; assistant professor, University of Toronto. Died July 19, 2000, aged 89; survived by his son, Dr. Barry.

Villanueva, Ricci R., Red Deer, Alta.; University of Santo Tomas (Philippines), 1963; general pathology; FCAP, FIAC, FRCPC; former staff pathologist, Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre; consulting pathologist, Innisfail Health Care Centre and Cross Cancer Institute. Died June 12, 2000, aged 61; survived by his wife, Rose.

Williams, A. Ralph, Salmon Arm, BC; University of Manitoba, 1953; MCFP; former chief of staff, Shuswap Lake General Hospital; medical examiner, Ministry of Transportation. Died June 16, 2000, aged 74; survived by his wife.
