Baker, David W., Chester, NS; University of Pennsylvania, 1950; former partner, Medical Wellness Centre; staff, Lahey Clinic, New England Deaconess, New England Baptist and Lankenau hospitals. Dr. Baker was a pioneer in complementary medicine, and through his efforts the Medical Society of Nova Scotia made history in 1994 by becoming the first provincial medical association to create a complementary medical section to represent physicians who practise alternative medicine. With his wife he opened Bonny Lea Farm, a training centre for physically and mentally challenged adults. "Dr. Baker had a vision of the world as a better place, and that's how he approached everything," Merilee Howlett, Bonny Lea Farm's managing director, told the Halifax Chronicle Herald. "[Everything he did] he did passionately and with compassion." Died July 4, 1999, aged 83.

Butt, William D., Burlington, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1946; plastic surgery; FACS, FRCSC; Canadian Officer Training Corps, WW II; former staff, Brant Memorial, Mississauga, Toronto Western, Oakville General and Queensway General hospitals; lecturer, University of Toronto; life member and secretary treasurer, Ontario Medical Association; founder and past president, Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Died June 10, 1999, aged 79; survived by his son, Brian.

Calvert, Kenneth G., Calgary; University of Western Ontario, 1939; obstetrics/gynecology; medical officer, RCAF, WW II; DABOG, FACS; former chief, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Grace Hospital; acting consultant, Holy Cross Hospital; delivered more than 7000 babies. His obituary stated: "Wherever he went he would encounter a friend, and free medical advice would be offered, whether asked for or not." Died July 1, 1999, aged 83; survived by his wife, Lorna, and 3 children.

Choo-Foo, Guillaume F. (Bill), Kenosee Lake, Sask.; National University of Ireland (Ireland), 1963; former chief of staff, Wawota Memorial Health Clinic; courtesy staff, Redvers Health Centre, Moosomin Union and Broadview Union hospitals; civil aviation medical examiner, Transport Canada. Died July 1, 1999, aged 62; survived by his wife, Ethel, and 2 sons.

DeLong, William H., Peterborough, Ont.; McGill University, 1987; general pathology; FRCPC; director of laboratories, and chief, Department of Laboratory Medicine, Peterborough Regional Health Centre; former associate laboratory physician, the General Hospital of Port Arthur and St. Joseph's General Hospital; staff, Peterborough Civic Hospital. Died of cancer July 16, 1999, aged 37; survived by his wife, Susanne, and 3 children.

From, George L., Toronto; University of Toronto, 1961; endocrinology and metabolism; FRCPC; former staff endocrinologist, Toronto Hospital Western Division; associate professor, University of Toronto. Died July 18, 1999, aged 64; survived by his wife, Lynn, and 3 children.

Henderson, Alexander C., Toronto; University of Toronto, 1940; former part-time physician, Toronto Department of Public Health; medical examiner, insurance applicants. Died June 27, 1999, aged 89.

Khanna, Ranbir S., Brampton, Ont.; University of Bombay (India), 1952; FRCS(Ed.), FRCSC; former staff, Peel Memorial Hospital and Downsview Rehabilitation Centre. Died July 10, 1999, aged 74; survived by his wife, Eunice, and 3 children.

Langevin, Raymond, Saint-Sauveurdes-Monts (Qué.); Université de Montréal, 1947; chirurgie orthopédique; FICS, FRCSC; ancien membre du personnel de l'hôpital Sacré-Cœur. Décédé le 19 juillet 1999, à l'âge de 80 ans; laisse son épouse, Marie-Thérèse Charron, et deux enfants.

Malik, Aurangzeb, Saskatoon; Scottish Conjoint Board (Scotland), 1965; LRCP&S(Ed.), LRCP&S(Glas.); former staff, Saskatoon City and St. Paul's hospitals; clinical tutor, Department of Family Practice, University of Saskatchewan. Died July 7, 1999, aged 70; survived by his wife, Jennifer, and 5 children.

Nilsen, Jan E., Grand Forks, BC; University of Alberta, 1972; former chief of staff, Boundary Hospital; teaching staff, family practice, University of British Columbia. His obituary stated: "Doctor John will be remembered for his generosity, wisdom, humour and energy, but his own words would have been, 'I had a blast! Good-bye.'" Died in a motor vehicle accident July 17, 1999, aged 54; survived by his wife, Colette.

Radcliffe, Roland W., Nanaimo, BC; Queen's University, 1953; obstetrics/gynecology; air navigation instructor, RCAF, WW II; DABOG, FACS, FACOG, FRCSC; former staff, Nanaimo Regional General Hospital; consulting staff, Ladysmith General and Chemainus General hospitals; past president and honorary member, Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia; assistant clinical professor, University of British Columbia. Died July 10, 1999, aged 77; survived by his wife, Dr. Patricia, and 3 children.

Silver, Matthew J., Toronto; McGill University, 1976; former staff, Yorkview Medical Centre, York-Finch General and North York Branson hospitals. Died July 3, 1999, aged 49.
