Continuity of cancer care patients is one of the areas that require immediate attention. The longtime care of such patients require possibly the help of allied health care provided by the same institution or in the place where the patient resides or nearer to. The problem is not with the care but with the money one has to spend for such a care whether it is long term care or short term. This depends upon the type of the cancer a patient has. That means there has to be team developed to take care of such patients at the tertiary care centers. The team needs to have a specialist, nursing professionals and psychiatric counselors. Every cancer specialty hospital have to train these personnel in such health care and educate them the need for long term care. There is no simple solution to such a major problem that drains the energy, spirit and the economic status of the patient and the family. It is not a rare incident to witness some of the patients die because of economic reasons. Cancer is a a psycho-social health problem. In certain places there is no health insurance cover for such patients or even family support. The outcome of treatment or its emergency care or counseling may require a solid family support. Hospitals cannot be the place where the patients can be looked after through their cancer survival period.
