Einarson, Dawson Wray, Kingston, Ont.; Queen's University, 1952, anesthesia. Died Mar. 9, 2006, aged 82. “Formerly of Perry Sound and born in Capreol, Ont., dear son of the late Einar and Olive Einarson of Rosseau and loving husband of Eleanor (Taylor) Einarson. Much loved and admired father of Susan (Neil), Ruth (Bryne), Martha (Dave), Elisabeth (Roger), Margaret (David), Sarah (Cliff) and Jeffrey (Julie), and very special grandfather to 13 grandchildren. He was a former Queen's medical school admissions officer and recipient of the Medical School Teaching Award in 1969, 1984 and 1985. As a World War II veteran, he served with the First Canadian Parachute Battalion and received O.M.M. (Order of Military Merit) and C.D. (Canadian Forces Decoration); he also received K.S.T.J. (Knight of the Order of St. John) and was the past Honourary Colonel of The Princess of Wales' Own Regiment.”

Howard, John Edward, Antigonish, NS; Dalhousie University, 1967, general surgery. Died Mar. 13, 2006, aged 66. “He was a past member of the Board of Governors of St. F.X. University and past board member of R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home Foundation. At the time of his death he was an active member of the board of directors Celtic Homes, Antigonish. He is survived by his wife, Shelagh (Molloy); son Michael, and grandchildren Matthew and Lauren; daughter Jane Anne; sister Mary (John) Martin; brothers Michael (Ann), Tony (Karen) and his loving nieces and nephews.”
O'Dea, John Joseph, St. John's; National University of Ireland, 1947. Died Mar. 14, 2006, aged 84. “Predeceased by his wife, Mary Catherine (nee McCarthy) and infant daughter Mary. Left with fond and loving memories, son John (Rose) and grandsons John and Chris; son Paul (Brenda) and granddaughter Erin; daughter Cathy Quigley (Neil) and grandsons Stephen and Michael; son Louis (Sandra) and brothers-in-law William and Tom McCarthy.”

Singh, Gaya, Saskatoon; Darbhanga Medical College, L.N. Mithila University, India, 1957, psychiatry. Died Mar. 17, 2006, aged 74. “He immigrated to Canada from the United Kingdom with his wife, Dr. M. Singh and 3 children Dr. Rajiva (Gwen) and children Naresh and Kiran; Ranjana (Robert) and daughters Anjali and Nisha; Sanjeev (Theresa) and their children Dominique, Lauren, Christian and Madeline. He also leaves behind a loving mother-in-law, Mrs. Shanti Pandey; and extended family in India.”
Smout, Marvin Stanley, Port Stanley, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1953, general pathology. Died Mar. 11, 2006, aged 76. “Dear husband of Anne Doreen (Atkinson) and father of Ellen, Jennifer (Gregg Barrett) and Laura Gedies (Paul). His 31-year career at Victoria Hospital included 25 years as Chief of Anatomic Pathology. An active faculty member at the University of Western Ontario, he taught over 2400 students in 30 consecutive medical school classes. Upon his retirement in 1991, he was awarded the designation of Professor Emeritus at UWO and received a lifetime membership in the Ontario Medical Association. Dr. Smout's interest in bird watching led to appointments to the Point Pelee National Park Rare Bird Records Committee, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority and the Fanshaw Pioneer Village. His interest in history led to his role as Chair of the Archives Committee of Victoria Hospital from 1973–1990. His dedication to family career and community will be well-remembered.”

Loving father and father-in-law of David Wiseman and Sheila Clenman, Laura Wiseman and Barry Rubinoff, Pamela and Ted Minden, Anne and Kerry Arbour. Devoted grandfather of Alexandra, Rachel, Noah, Alisa, Daniel, Elijah, Jana, Robyn and Jason.”
